Hard to believe

Why the rich voted for Obama against their economic interest! Hard to believe, but some people actually have multiple priorities, and having the lowest personal tax rates possible is not always the top tax rate. I know, those rich people, they always choose to have huge piles of gold and rubies and diamonds to swim in, but sometimes they also care about things like justice and fairness and other people, who have to swim in icky public pools full of dull water.

It’s one thing if some group says, more or less, they’re voting for some party or candidate because it is in their own economic interests: we can discuss whether that is true, why they think it is true, etc. But people vote for all sorts of reasons, and, though sure, no one’s going to pay more taxes than they need to, that doesn’t mean they think that they think the tax level is appropriate.
